Charles Franklin Brooks (1891-1958) earned his Harvard AB in 1911, his AM in 1912, and his Ph.D. in 1914 and taught meteorology at Harvard. He was born on May 2, 1891 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Morgan Brooks and Frona Marie Brooks. His Harvard Ph.D. was the second doctorate in meteorology ever granted in the United States. He married Eleanor Merritt Stabler on June 4, 1914, and the couple had seven children. From 1931 to 1957, Brooks was a Professor of Meteorology at Harvard and Director of the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory in Milton, Massachusetts. He was the founder of the American Meteorology Society and one of the founders of the Mount Washington Observatory. He died at the age of 66 on January 8, 1958, in Milton, Massachusetts.
