George Lyman Kittredge (February 28, 1860 – July 23, 1941) was a professor of English literature at Harvard University. His scholarly edition of the works of William Shakespeare was influential in the early 20th century. Henry Marvin Belden (1865-1954) was a professor of English at the University of Missouri in Columbia and a scholar of American ballads and folk songs. He was one of the founders of the Missouri Folklore Society organized in 1906 and helped them collect ballad text and music in Missouri.
