Kenneth Clark Hawkes (1913-2009) was born in Portland, Maine. While training for the Universalist ministry in the 1930s, he served as acting pastor of the Prides' Corner Union Church of Westbrook and the Universalist Church of Scarborough and South Buxton. Charles Austin Gaines (1936-) attended Tufts University 's Crane Theological School and was ordained into the Universalist ministry at Hardwick, Massachusetts. He served the First Parish in Framingham, Massachusetts (Unitarian Universalist), from 1967 to 1984, and was named its minister emeritus in 1996. Gaines wrote Clarence R.
