University of Utah Dean of Students Office records 1953-1967

The office of the Dean of Students supervised the Counseling Center, Bureau of Marriage Counsel, Housing Office, Placement Bureau, Student Health Center, Foreign Student Office, Office of Military Relations, student government, and the University Union. The name was changed to Student Affairs in 1973 and to Student Affairs and Services in 1978. The collection contains correspondence, meeting minutes, and subject files of Willard W. Blaesser, Dean of Students from 1953 to 1962, and of Assistant Dean Burns D. Crookston, ca. 1953-1962. Their files also reflect their activities in professional organizations, particularly the American Personnel and Guidance Association, of which Willard Blaesser served as president from 1956 to 1957. The files of F. Martin Erickson, ca. 1963-1967, who was Assistant and later Associate Dean of Students are also incorporated into the collection.
