Professional organization established in 1924, originally as the National Association of Appointment Secretaries, changing its name in 1931 to the American College Personnel Association.

Established with the organizational purpose of establishing sections within the national organization which would deal with different kinds of personnel work, and focusing on the promotion and development of people engaged in personnel responsibilities at the college level.

She was Vice President of Student Affairs at Longwood University, and held administrative positions as president of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) from 1979-1980, the second president (1989-2001) of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS),and as the first executive director of CAS from 2001 until her death in 2012.
