The small congregation which met in March of 1908 called themselves simply “Leavenworth Lutheran Church.” They were a mix of German Lutherans from Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. In 1907 the Wisconsin Mission Board had answered the request for a pastor by sending Martin Raasch from Nebraska. In 1908 a Ladies’ Aid had been formed and children attended Sunday School. It all began on Thanksgiving Eve, 1932, when the first Lutheran service in Cashmere was conducted by Rev. H. P. Christensen at the Henry W. Rieke home on Cottage Avenue.
