Case was born at Canton, Pennsylvania in 1838. After his discharge from the army in 1865 he move west and Eventually settled in Marion, Kansas. Levi Billings, co-partner in the firm of Case and Billings and later in the Cottonwood Valley Bank, was also a resident of Marion, Kansas.
