Ms. Deuell was the first accredited woman war correspondent. She was with Gen. Pershing in the Mexican Border War in 1916, she covered World War I in France, the American Army or Occupation in Siberia after World War I, and World War II in the Pacific. During World War II and the Korean Conflict, newspapers and independent journalists photographed individual soldiers and groups of soldiers from Cleveland and northeast Ohio as part of their coverage of these wars.
