Representatives of the United States, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and France organized the International Military Tribunal (IMT) in 1945 to try cases against twenty-four Nazi leaders. Between 20 November 1945 and 1 October 1946 the IMT was convened, and verdicts were handed down on 30 September and 1 October 1946. Friedberg, Leopold

Leopold Friedberg was born in Karlsruhe in 1881. After completing law school, Leopold Friedberg took over his father's law firm and expanded it to one of the largest in town. In 1938 he was arrested and deported to Dachau concentration camp. He emigrated to France in 1939, to England in 1940, and eventually to Christchurch, New Zealand.
