Ruth Abramowitz Photographs 1952-1957

Ruth Abramowitz (1924-2001) was secretary of Local 101, Utility Division of the Transport Workers Union. The collection contains thirty-five photographs depicting events in which Abramowitz took part in the 1950s. Many represent social welfare campaigns undertaken in cooperation with the Greater New York Fund. There are also photographs depicting events of New York City CIO's Community Services Committee, a labor campaign to control cancer in Brooklyn, and different events held in Atlantic City, at the United Nations, and at Sarah Lawrence College.

Ruth Abramowitz (1924-2001) was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in the various boroughs of New York for most of her life. She was secretary of Local 101, Utility Division of the Transport Workers Union.
