Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park, New York. He was the son of James (lawyer, financier) and Sara (Delano) Roosevelt. John Innerarity was the representative in Pensacola, Fla., of the mercantile house of John Forbes and Co. of Mobile, Ala., which succeeded the firm of Panton, Leslie and Co. Alexander McGillivray is said to have been a silent partner in both firms, which specialized in the Indian trade.
