White House Central Files Name Files, 8/1974 - 1/1977

1974-1977

The White House Central File (WHCF) Name Files serve as a name index to the WHCF Subject File during the administration of President Gerald R. Ford. The Name Files includes both cross-references to the Subject Files and many items deemed too unimportant for the Subject Files. Included are records filed under the names of Senators and Representatives; organizations, corporations, and institutions; local, state, and foreign government officials; businesspersons, educators, celebrities, and office seekers; and many private citizens. A few projects are also indexed, at least partially, e.g. "Swine Flu Program." The Name Files has only marginal value for names of White House staff and certain other Executive branch officials. It cites them sparingly. This series contains memorandums, letters, lists, invitations, and telegrams.
