Palfrey, Sarah Hammond, 1823-1914
Variant namesPoet and novelist; daughter of noted Unitarian minister of Boston and Cambridge, John Gorham Palfrey. She shared her father's liberal theology and was prominent in the social and philanthropic movements of the day. Much of her work was written under the name of "E. Foxton." Her writings include (verse) Premices, Sir Pavon and St. Pavon, King Arthur in Avalon and other poems, among others and (novels) Agnes Wentworth, Katherine Morne, Herman, Or Young Knighthood.
