Samuel Stokes was an 18th-century Quaker from southern New Jersey. He was born on the 24th day of the 12th month, 1743, Old Style (6 March 1744, New Style), to Joshua Stokes and Amy Hinchman Stokes. Stokes wasassociated with Haddonfield, New Jersey and Haddonfield Monthly Meeting. He married Hope Hunt, and the couple had 10 children (Aquilla, Priscilla, Atlantic, Isaac, Rachel, Esther, Hezekiah, Elisha, Mary Anne, and Martha). He died on the 2nd day of the 4th month, 1802.
