Established in 1867; affilated with the Episcopal Church; Saint Augustine's College library had its beginnings with the private collections and books of the first principals of the college; in 1896-1897, the library received a gift of $1,600 from Miss Mary Benson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mary Benson Library opened in 1928 and continued in operation until 1975 when the Prezell R. Robinson Library opened; current facility is named in honor of Prezell R. Robinson, the eighth president of Saint Augustine's College.
