The 3rd New Hampshire regiment was created after Nov. 1776 and served until January 1781 when its remaining men were incorporated into the 1st New Hampshire. The regiment was under the command of Colonel Alexander Scammell, with Henry Dearborn serving as Major and later Lieutenant Colonel. The regiment was part of Enoch Poor's Brigade.
