Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Kansas, 1907-29 (Republican); of Leavenworth.
Details: Daniel Read Anthony, Jr., was born in Leavenworth in 1870. His father was Susan B. Anthony's brother and the editor of the Leavenworth times. Daniel, Jr., succeeded his father at this job in 1904. He was chosen for the U.S. House of Representatives when Charles Curtis became a U.S. senator in 1907. Daniel, Jr., was re-elected to the House until he retired in 1929. He repeatedly introduced the Equal Rights Amendment in Congress. He died in Leavenworth in 1931.
