Alan England Brooke (1863-1939), biblical scholar, was a Fellow of King's College, Cambridge, 1889-1939, Dean and lecturer in divinity, 1894-1918, Provost, 1926-33, and Ely Professor of Divinity, 1916-26. He published The Commentary of Origen on St. John's Gospel, 1896, and two volumes of The Old Testament in Greek (1917 and 1935), which he edited with Norman M'Lean.
