Elmer, William, 1814-1889
Variant namesWilliam Elmer (1814-1889), a physician from Bridgeton, N.J. (Cumberland County), received a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1836, examined recruits during the Civil War, and was a director of the State Asylum. His two sons, William and Henry, were also physicians.

Physician, of Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey; was the son of William Elmer (1788-1836), also a Bridgeton physician; graduated from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), 1832, and from the University of Pennsylvania (with a medical degree), 1836; practiced in partnership with J. Banon Potter for an undertermined period beginning in May 1847.
