The Land-Grant College Radio Hour was performed at the University of Nevada for the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities, in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture and the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), on July 20, 1938. Alfred L. Higginbotham, journalism professor, wrote the script and directed the production. Opening the program was university regent, Silas Ross. Acting as announcer was Jennings Pierce for NBC, who conducted interviews with J.A. Carpenter, Director, Mackay School of Mines, and Cecil W. Creel, director of the Extension Service and President of the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities. Skits were presented by students on the history and development of the state and university, and music, identified as typical tunes of the state and university, was provided by students, faculty and alumni. University faculty members Theodore Post conducted the music and William C. Miller directed the historical sketches.
