The Harmony Society was a German religious group that established utopian communities in Pennsylvania and Posey County, Ind. Also known as Harmonists or Rappites (after leader George Rapp), the group moved from Harmonie, Penn. to found New Harmony, Ind. in 1815. By 1824 the disillusioned group gradually began moving back to Pennsylvania, and the town was sold to British utopian leader Robert Owen.
