Cyane (Sloop of war)
Variant namesThe U.S.S. Cyane was launched December 2, 1837. During the Mexican-American War she carried John C. Fremont's California Battalion to San Diego, La Paz, and Mazatlan before returning to Norfolk in 1848. The Cyane was decommissioned in 1871.

U.S. Navy sloop-of-war commanded by William Mervine from 1845 to 1846. From 1845 to 1848 the Cyane was commanded by Samuel Francis DuPont and was actively involved in the Mexican War.
