Born in Petersham, Mass. Graduated from Harvard Medical College in 1833; practiced medicine in Massachusetts, then moved to Buffalo, N.Y. in 1836. A founder of the Buffalo Medical College and the Buffalo Medical Journal. Appointed professor of medicine at Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City, in 1861.
