Callender, Guy Stevens, 1865-1915
Guy Stevens Callender was born in 1865 in Hartsgrove, Ohio. He graduated with the A.B. degree in 1891 from Oberlin College and in 1892, he entered the senior class of Harvard College. He remained at Harvard until 1900, pursuing graduate studies in economics and serving as Instructor in Economics (1897-1900). He taught economics at Bowdoin College in Maine from 1900 to 1903 and at Yale University's Sheffield Scientific School from 1903 until 1915. He was the author of Selections from the economic history of the United States 1765-1860 (1909). In 1915, the Oberlin College Class of 1891 purchased Callender's personal library of nearly 2,500 titles and presented it to the Oberlin College Library.
