Army officer, educator, and author.
Born in Illinois, E.L. Huggins served 1861-1865 with the Second Minnesota Infantry and First Minnesota Artillery. He was appointed to the regular army in 1866, and retired in 1903 as a brigadier general after serving in numerous western posts.
