Cattleman, U.S. Marshal (1935-1953), and Pima County Sheriff (1955-1956); president of the Cochise County Cattle Growers' Association, operated the Ventana Ranch, operated a trading post on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation (1920-1935), and was active in Democratic politics in Tucson, Ariz.
