Biographical note: Viola Freeman (Mrs. Safford Freeman), who lived with her husband and family in Tucson, kept a scrapbook about the activities of women in the military during World War II when her daughter, Dorothy, served in the WAACs.

Viola and her husband, Safford Freeman, moved to Tucson in 1913 as newlyweds. They homesteaded land which is now part of the Saguaro National Monument East. She worked twenty years as an office manager, and was active in the Tucson Women's Club.
