Huxley, Henrietta A., -1915
Variant namesHenrietta Huxley was the wife of English scientist Thomas H. Huxley. She was the daughter of a merchant, and emigrated to Australia in her teens by way of England and Germany; in Sydney, she met Thomas Huxley, then assistant surgeon aboard the Rattlesnake. Their marriage was a partnership, and she supported her husband's scientific efforts in many ways, chiefly as editor. She also wrote poetry.
