Biographical History

Henrietta Huxley was the wife of English scientist Thomas H. Huxley. She was the daughter of a merchant, and emigrated to Australia in her teens by way of England and Germany; in Sydney, she met Thomas Huxley, then assistant surgeon aboard the Rattlesnake. Their marriage was a partnership, and she supported her husband's scientific efforts in many ways, chiefly as editor. She also wrote poetry.

From the description of Henrietta Huxley letter to Dear sir, 1899 July 11. (Pennsylvania State University Libraries). WorldCat record id: 54004516
