Hopkins, Charlotte Everett Wise, 1851-1935
Hopkins, a civic leader, social service worker, and "grande dame" in Washington, D.C., waged a twenty-year fight for the abolishment of alley homes in Washington, which resulted in the establishment of the Alley Dwelling Authority in 1934.
