Goodspeed, Charles E. (Charles Eliot), 1867-1950
Variant namesCharles E. Goodspeed was the founder of several bookstores in Boston and a dealer in rare books and manuscripts. Most of his writings were bibliographical, compiling A treasury of fishing stories and Nathaniel Hawthorne and the Museum of the Salem East India Marine Society, or, The gathering of a virtuoso's collection, both published in 1946. His autobiography, Yankee bookseller, published in 1937, gives a full picture of booksellers, collectors, and authors of his time.
