McMurry College
McMurry College, officially ordained in October, 1920, at the annual session of the Northwest Texas Conference held at Clarendon, Texas, opened its doors three years later in Abilene, Texas. McMurry College succeeded four other Methodist educational institutions of West Texas and New Mexico-Stamford College, Clarendon College, Seth Ward College and Western College. McMurry became the custodian of records from Stamford College, Clarendon College, Seth Ward College and Western College.
