Charleston and Savannah Railroad
Variant namesThe main line of the Charleston and Savannah Railroad Company, which began operations in 1861, ran between Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, with service to other locations south and west of Charleston. In January 1867 under pressure from the bondholders, the Board of Directors agreed to transfer property rights and privileges of the Charleston and Savannah Railroad Company to the Savannah and Charleston Railroad Company.
