Ruhm, Herbert
Confidence was the fifth novel that Henry James published, originally published for American journal Scribner's Monthly as a serial from August 1879 to January 1880. The text from these serials was then published in February 1880 by Houghton, Osgood, and Company of Boston, Massachusetts.
Herbert Ruhm was born in Vienna and came to the United States in 1942. Ruhm studied at Hunter College, New York University, the New School for Social Research, and Michigan State University. Ruhm received his doctorate in English from the University of Chicago. In 1962, Ruhm joined the faculty at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Ruhm is also the editor of Lady Barberina and Other Tales.
