Congregational Education Society
American Society for Educating Pious Youth for the Gospel Ministry established 1815; in 1820 name changed to American Education Society; in 1874 it united with Society for the Promotion of Collegiate and Theological Education (founded 1843) to form American College and Education Society; in 1893 this was joined by New West Education Commission and renamed American Education Society; name changed to Congregational Education Society in 1894. Congregational Foundation for Education merged into the Congregational Education Society in 1927.
