John Llewelyn Davies (1826-1916) was a theologian and Rector at Kirby Lonsdale, Cumbria. Arthur (d. 1907), one of seven children to John Llewelyn Davies and Mary Crompton (d. 1885) and a barrister, married Sylvia du Maurier, daughter of novelist George du Maurier. Arthur and Sylvia had five sons: George (1893-1915), John (1894-1959), Peter (1897-1960), Michael (1900-1921), and Nicholas (1901-1980).
