Mr. Ralph Munro's father, George Alexander Munro, had written in a letter to Ralph Munro of his remembrances that he had about the construction of the stone and marble by the stone-cutters when they were constructing the Capitol Building in Olympia, WA. Mr. George Munro states in his letter, "Your grandpa [referring to Ralph Munro] and a cutter by the name of Williams ... set up the whole job and your Grandpa stayed on for a long time after to do all the trimming and pointing." In the second letter, Mr. George Munro goes on to describe the life and work of the stone carvers that worked on the Capitol building. It is interesting that Mr. Ralph Munro's grandfather was a carver that worked on the Capitol Building and in 1980 Mr. Ralph Munro was elected as Secretary of State and served his terms, which were 1980-2001, in the building that his grandfather had helped construct.
George Alexander Munro was born 4 Feb. 1900. He lived 90 years at Crystal Springs on the west side of Bainbridge Island, WA. Mr. Munro passed away on 14 Feb. 1999.
