Joel Leftwich (1759-1846) was an army officer, state legislator, and justice of the peace, of Bedford County, Va. During the Revolutionary War, Leftwich fought at Germantown, Pa.; Camden, S.C.; and was wounded at Guilford, N.C. In the War of 1812, he commanded a brigade under General William Henry Harrison and became a major general of the Virginia militia.
