Academy of Medicine of New Jersey
The Academy of Medicine of New Jersey (AMNJ), formed in 1911 to advance the art and science of medicine, maintain a medical library, and promote public health and medical education. Dr. Edward J. Ill was its first president. Other presidents included: Gordon K. Dickinson, Harrison S. Martland and Edward W. Sprague. The AMNJ library, long affiliated with the Newark Public Library, was open to non-members.
