Irish dancer, actress, lecturer, writer, and political activist, Lola Montez was also known as Marie Dolores Eliza (or Elisa) Rosanna Gilbert, Maria Dolores Parris Montez, and Comtesse de Landsfeld.

Born Marie Eliza Gilbert in Ireland, Lola Montez was an internationally-known dancer who performed in San Francisco and various mining towns in Calif. from 1853-1856, with a brief tour in Australia in 1855-1856.
