Biographical notes:

Casey Albert Wood, Canadian physician, was born in Wellington, Ontario, November 21, 1856. He was educated at Ottawa College Institute, Lennoxvllle University, and McGill University. He was a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ontario. He practiced medicine in Montreal for some years . He was professor of chemistry and pathology at Lennoxville University, 1878-85 and was consulting ophthalmic surgeon to Cook Co. and St. Anthony Hospitals. In 1890 he was appointed professor of ophthalmology, Chicago Post Grad. Medical School, as well as professor of clinical ophthalmology, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Chicago, 1898-1906. Wood was editor-in-chief of the "Annals of Ophthalmology." During trips to Europe and the East he wrote a number of serial articles, among them "Letters to my Hospital Internes" and "Notes of an Eastern Journey." He has also made extensive contributions to the medical press and has likewise published "Lessons in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Diseases" (1895), "The Toxic Amblyopias" (1896), "The Commoner Diseases of the Eye" (1904), and "A System of Ophthalmic 'Therapeutics" (1909). Wood died in La Jolla, California in 1942.
