Biographical notes:

In his early years, Julius Kahn was an actor who toured the country with Joseph Jefferson's troupe, as well as others. Later, Kahn became a lawyer, and represented California for more than twenty years in the House of Representatives as Republican Congressman. After Kahn died in office in December 1924, his wife Florence ran for his seat and won, becoming the first Jewish woman to serve as a Representative.
