Biographical notes:
Theodore F. Allen was born June 13, 1842 in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Isaac J. Allen. He enlisted in the 7th Ohio Cavalry in 1862 and was later promoted to Captain and eventually Colonel, U.S. volunteers. Allen wrote a number of articles concerning his service in the Civil War, including an account of his capture by rebel forces at the Battle of Rogersville in 1863. He died in Cincinnati, OH in 1919.
