Republican State Senator Richard Dolwig was born in North Dakota. He practiced law in Redwood City, California and was elected to the State Assembly in 1946 and reelected four times. As Senator from San Mateo County he introduced a water plan in 1960. In 1961 he ran for Attorney General and was defeated. In 1965, he introduced legislation to divide the state into a Northern and Southern California. He was active in supporting conservation issues. He and six others were indicted in 1975 for attempting to bilk millions of dollars out of real estate developers. He was found guilty of eight counts of fraud and sentenced to five years in the.
federal penetentiary.
