Henry King (1592-1669), poet, was educated at Westminster and Christ Church, Oxford (B.A., 1611; M.A., 1614; D.D., 1625). He became a prebendary of St Paul's, London, 1616; Archdeacon of Colchester, 1617; and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, 1624. He was appointed Dean of Rochester in 1639, and Bishop of Chichester in 1642. King published poems and sermons. He died at Chichester on 30 September 1669.
