Johnston, George W. (George William)

George W. Johnston served with the Fourth Indiana Battery during the Civil War. After the war, he returned to Indianapolis, was active in the G.A.R. and served on the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument Commission. Upon retirement, he bought land in Florida.
William M. Johnston was the son of George W. Johnston. He attended the Colorado School of Mines, and worked in mining in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. He returned to Indianapolis, where he was engaged in business.
