Biographical notes:

Leonard Case, Sr. was a land agent, bank and railroad executive, and politician in Cleveland, Ohio. His sons, Leonard Jr., a noted philanthropist, and William, a politician and mayor of Cleveland, were active in local civic and business affairs. His brother Zophar was a lawyer and politician in Clinton Co., Ill. His nephew Eckstein was a lawyer and Secretary-Treasurer of the Case School of Applied Science.

Leonard Sr., Leonard Jr., and William Case were prominent Cleveland philanthropists and railroad magnates in the 1800s. Leonard Sr. was also an early settler of the area and William served as Mayor from 1850-1852.
