Edward Dannreuther was a musician, composer, author, and teacher. He studied music in Germany, but achieved success in England and the United States as a piano virtuoso, introducing many important German works to these audiences. Dannreuther was also a composer, mostly in song forms, and educator. He was known for his admiration of Wagner, and was an important writer of music theory and criticism. He also wrote on art and philosophy.
