Biographical notes:

Missionary, teacher; born Eleanor Ruth Elliot on May 1, 1908 to missionary parents; grew up in southwest China; attended Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA, 1925-1927) and graduated from Wheaton College (1930); worked as a missionary (particularly among children and women) in China with China Inland Mission, 1931-1943; taught children of CIM missionaries, 1943-1951; worked with Overseas Missionary Fellowship (formerly CIM) in the Philippines as a teacher in the Chinese community and a cooperative school for children of missionaries, 1952-1956; continued teaching career in U.S., 1957-1977; retired, 1977; died, 1995.
