Biographical notes:
Kleinschmidt was a German-born psychiatrist with a deep interest in German expressionism. He was concerned with trends in art and literature from the turn of the century to the end of the Weimar Republic. He edited a book on Richard Huelsenbeck's writings, Memoirs of a Dada drummer, which appeared in 1969.

Biographical / Historical Note
Hans J. Kleinschmidt was a German-born psychiatrist with a deep interest in German expressionism. He was particularly concerned with trends in art and literature from the turn of the century to the end of the Weimar Republic. Richard Huelsenbeck asked Kleinschmidt to edit Memoirs of a Dada drummer, a book of Huelsenbeck's writings which first appeared in 1969. For research purposes, Kleinschmidt also gathered a large collection of correspondence about the German publication, Der Sturm and its founder Herwarth Walden.
